Counselling

Professional counselling is a process whereby a client chooses to work with a suitably trained practitioner to resolve issues and concerns which they are experiencing in their life. There are various training programmes that prepare counsellors to undertake this delicate and intimate work. Training as a psychologist is perhaps one of the more rigorous pathways to working with people in such a deeply personal and potentially revealing process.
Over the past 15 years, I have observed a steady increase in the numbers of people suffering from anxiety and depression. Concurrently, our understanding of neurobiology and neuroscience has also increased significantly. This has resulted in the development of more effective ways of assisting people to manage - if not resolve - their condition more effectively, thereby allowing them to live their lives more comfortably and productively.

One of the most critical aspects of counselling is matching the appropriate strategies with the client's personality and world view. Understanding clearly where the client is currently 'at' in their life, informs and guides the process. Thirty years of experience at the coal face of peoples pain makes me uniquely qualified to intuit these nuances and facilitate transformation.
